Cylinder Cabinets & Bulk Gas Distribution
The cylinder cabinet is where a specialty gas enters the facility. It houses the cylinder connection, high pressure isolation, pressure regulation, purge and vent, and the switchover between duty and standby sources.
Valonix cylinder valves, high pressure diaphragm valves, regulators and automatic changeover systems form a consistent wetted chain from the cylinder outlet to the distribution header.
Cabinet valve chain
A standard chain runs cylinder valve, high pressure isolation valve, two stage regulator, process diaphragm valve, purge valve, vent check valve and outlet isolation. A three-way valve can replace the process/vent tee pair and reduce the number of joints to leak-check.
- Cylinder valve and HP isolation
- Two stage pressure regulation
- Process, purge and vent valves
- Outlet isolation to the header
Automatic changeover
Dual-source changeover keeps tools supplied while a cylinder is replaced. Pressure sensing initiates the switch, and a purge sequence clears the new leg before it is opened to the process line.
- Duty / standby pressure sensing
- Purge before opening the new leg
- Uninterrupted tool supply
Bulk distribution headers
Downstream of the cabinet, larger 3/4 and 1 in diaphragm valves with Cv 2.8-3.5 isolate header sections. Welded ends reduce potential leak points on permanent lines; face seals are used where sections must be removable.
- Cv 2.8-3.5 header valves
- Butt weld for permanent lines
- Face seal for removable sections

Frequently Asked Questions
What valves are inside a standard gas cabinet?
Cylinder connection, high pressure isolation, regulator, process and purge diaphragm valves, vent check valve and outlet isolation, often with a changeover assembly.
When is an automatic changeover needed?
When a gas interruption would stop production or scrap a batch, such as continuous fab tools and large deposition lines.
